Azusa, Goddess of the Voyage

History

Origin, activities and relationships

Azusa is the goddess of life and death although she does not control her powers, instead life springs forth wherever she goes as a divine aura. She was the first of her siblings to walk the lands that they have created and life sprang forth wherever she went. She enjoys exploration and discovering what lies in the unknown and in doing so brings life to every corner she touches. Much to the dismay to her, all of her creations were mortal and experienced death, something that was unknown to her at the time.

Death is a natural part of life, and mortality a natural part of her creations, in time she grew to accept that as the natural cycle. Agreeing not to abandon her creations even in death, it is said that she is the one who guides the souls through the afterlife to their destinations.

Worshipers

Many of Azusa's worshipers are nomadic in nature and favor exploration. These include barbarian tribes, nomadic people and most notably adventurers. Prayers to Azusa are often to safeguard the many threats of the natural world.

Her title as the goddess of the voyage does not just pertain to just physical journeys but also of the metaphorical journey of mortality. And thus she is often prayed to during funerals to guide souls of loved ones on safe passage through the ethereal plane and the afterlife.
