Summary
With the help of Rudolf Van Richten, the party sets out to cleanse their newly acquired home of the rumored hauntings. 3 days of Seances uncovered the mysteries of the house formerly owned by the Halverhest family. It is revealed that the home used to be a castle of a powerful king slained by a warlord Dalk Drazorg. Mara Silvra, the daughter of the slained king came back for vengeance and the feud between Dalk and Mara fueled the Shadowfell fog to envelope the property and attracted hauntings ever since.
Notable events
- Volo and Rudolf acompanies the team into the home and do some exploration of the house before the first Seance.
- Volo was possessed by Dalk, under the guise of Garland. Volo freaked out and left the house as soon as he could.
- Under the instruction of Dalk, Josephine finds his cursed Berserker axe under the floorboards of the porch.
- Penjamin has a nightmare about two figures in a barren wasteland fighting each other with armies under each one's control. He then wakes up in the ball room of the house.
- The second Seance, Mara speaks through Josephine and informs the team that there is no Garland and he is liar. Mara also instructs the party to slay the intruders of the house.
- After the second Seance, Rudolf tells them that a fog has enveloped the house and transported all of them into the shadowfell
- The party fights several ghouls and ghosts amongst the house, finds a magically locked room and some amulets of the Raven Queen and defeat a Reanimated Dalk Dranzorg in the castle tower
- During the third Seance, Josephine once again is possessed by Mara who is now angered and wants the party to die. Theodara Halverhest also speaks from the Raven Queen Amulet telling them that the hauntings will end if Mara is defeated, and she requests the party free her children's spirits which is trapped in the locked room.
- The amulets reveal a secret door to the basement from the tower
- The party fights and defeats Mara's banshee form which unlocks the room on the third floor
- The room on the third floor holds the spirits of the Halverhest children which was protected by a spell from the Raven Queen. They thank the party and ascend, after which the fog clears and the party is back in Waterdeep
